Air Force TACP tactical air control party?
I'm leaving for boot camp in April and I'm wanting some input on the TACP lifestyle. Do they always live with the Army? Do they get all the benefits of being in the Air Force? And do they have the time to go to school?
You are assigned to an Air Support Operations Squadron. Your chain of command is USAF; however you will be assigned (most likely) to an Army Division, depending on which unit(s) your ASOS supports. You will live, and train with your Army brothers-that's the point of having your there in the first place. That means their training and combat rotations become your training and combat rotations. Yes, there is time to go to school in between rotations. As the Army rewickers their schedule to give units more time in garrison-that will be more time for you.
