What Liquid Chemical is used to create Fire without matches or flint?

I am wanting to write a story but I am having trouble figuring out how the character can start a fire without matches or flint. It's a Sci/Fi/ Fantasy set on earth. The character has to be able to work/ handle with the chemical alot so I need something she won't die using and that won't get out of control. I want the chemical to be prone to Combustion when allowed air. I want it to not have very much radio activity and that it can be controled. Thanks any answers are welcome! Grazie!

I don't know about a liquid chemical, but Sodium is a solid that when exposed to water bursts into flame. If exposed to humid air, it can explode too.
To keep it safe, it is usually kept in containers covered in oil.
