How much pocket change would it take to fill a 5 gallon water container?
I have a 5 gallon water jog filled to the brim with random pocket change...how much money would you estimate is in the bottle? It weighs over 150 pounds. It is probably around 12 years worth of change.
My estimate is that you have nearly $1500.
I weighed and measured the volume of the pocket change I keep in a small wooden bowl. One sixth of a cup of change was worth $3.06 and weighed 130 grams. A cup of change would be worth $18.36 and would weigh 780 grams. There are 16 cups in a gallon, or 80 cups in five gallons. 80 cups of change should be worth $1468.80 and weigh 62.4 kg or 138 pounds, more or less. Add the weight of the container, and it could easily weigh more than 150 pounds.
